Privacy Policy for Primal Apes

1. Introduction
Welcome to Primal Apes. Primal Apes is a virtual reality game available through the Meta Horizon platform.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Primal Apes collects and processes, why we use that information, the third-party services that process information on our behalf, and how users can request deletion of their data.
2. Information We Collect and Process
When you use Primal Apes, we may collect or process the following information:
Meta User ID
Primal Apes receives your Meta User ID through Meta Horizon platform features.
We use your Meta User ID to identify your account and link your Meta/Oculus account with your Primal Apes player account in Microsoft PlayFab.
This allows us to associate the correct game information with your account across gameplay sessions.
Meta User Profile
Primal Apes may receive limited Meta Horizon profile information, such as your Meta username or display name.
We use this information for player identification and features within Primal Apes.
We do not collect your Meta account password.
PlayFab Account and Game Data
Primal Apes uses Microsoft PlayFab as a backend service.
Your Primal Apes player account is linked with your Meta/Oculus account so that we can identify your player account and load the correct game data.
Information stored or processed through PlayFab may include:
- Your player/account identifier.
- Information used to associate your Meta/Oculus account with your Primal Apes account.
- Your in-game coin balance.
- Cosmetics you own or have unlocked.
- Equipped cosmetics and related game preferences.
- Game progress and other account-specific game information.
- Purchase or entitlement information where necessary to provide game content.
We use this information to save and restore your Primal Apes account data, maintain your coin balance, provide your cosmetics, verify ownership of content, and provide other account-specific game features.
In-App Purchases and Downloadable Content
Primal Apes may process information about in-app purchases, downloadable content, and entitlements associated with your account.
We use this information to determine whether your account owns particular virtual items, cosmetics, currency, downloadable content, or other game features and to provide that content to you.
Payment processing is handled through the applicable platform or payment provider. Primal Apes does not directly collect your full credit or debit card number for purchases processed through the Meta Horizon platform.
Multiplayer and Photon
Primal Apes uses Photon, operated by Exit Games, to provide online multiplayer and networking functionality.
When using multiplayer features, Photon may process technical and networking information necessary to provide its services. This may include information such as your IP address and a user identifier supplied by Primal Apes.
This information is used to establish and maintain multiplayer connections, connect players to multiplayer sessions, and operate online game functionality.
Gameplay Data
We may process gameplay-related information such as:
- Game progress.
- Gameplay settings and preferences.
- Owned and equipped cosmetics.
- Virtual currency balances.
- Achievements or other game progression.
- Interactions with game features.
This information is used to operate Primal Apes and provide account-specific features.
Voice recordings and moderation
Before entering multiplayer for the first time, you see an in-game notice and can scroll through this policy. Pressing Accept or the B button after reading records your acceptance of this policy and consent to moderation voice recording. Multiplayer and voice remain disabled until you accept. If you do not agree, close the game. We ask again when this consent version changes.
After acceptance, while you are in a multiplayer room with your microphone enabled, the game records short clips of your outgoing voice for safety and moderation. A recording indicator is shown in game when moderation recording is enabled. We do not capture the microphone while you are offline, muted, deafened, or your headset is asleep. The feature must also be enabled and available on our server.
Clips are linked to your PlayFab player ID, room and upload time, and are stored privately in Supabase. Unreported recordings expire after six hours and become unavailable for staff playback. A scheduled cleanup deletes expired files, normally within the next minute; temporary service failures can delay physical deletion. If you are reported, available recordings from the reported room within the previous six hours may be attached to that report and held beyond the normal expiry until staff finish reviewing it.
Authorized staff may listen to retained recordings to investigate reports, harassment, threats and other rule violations. Playback access is logged. When staff accept or dismiss a report, its audio is scheduled for deletion; audio still required by another open report remains until that report is reviewed too. Recordings are moderation evidence, not guaranteed complete transcripts: network loss, silence detection or service availability may create gaps. We do not use these recordings for advertising or AI model training.
You can stop future recording by muting your microphone or leaving multiplayer. Contact info@primalapes.com to ask about your data, withdraw consent, or request deletion. Withdrawing consent disables multiplayer voice recording and multiplayer access unless you give consent again; records needed for an open safety investigation may be retained until review is complete.
Ape+ subscriptions
For Ape+, we use your Meta user ID and verification proof to check your subscription entitlement with Meta. We process the product SKU, purchase or subscription identifiers, current entitlement status, paid-period expiry and currency-grant history. These checks determine whether to enable Ape+ features, the member star, nameplate and menu customization, member-only cosmetics, and the 2,000 Rusty Copper award for each verified paid month. A grant record helps prevent duplicate awards.
Subscription payments, billing details, renewal and cancellation are managed through Meta. Primal Apes does not receive your full payment card details. Canceling renewal normally keeps membership benefits available until the verified paid period expires; subscription-only access is removed when the entitlement is no longer active. Already awarded currency remains unless a refund or platform adjustment requires correction.
Daily rewards and quests
We store daily progress, recent activity signals, time spent in supported gamemodes, server timestamps and reward-claim history to award daily Copper and prevent repeated claims. Quest progress resets at 00:00 UTC. Staff changes to coins or cosmetic ownership are recorded with the staff identity, reason and time.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use information collected or processed through Primal Apes to:
- Operate and maintain Primal Apes.
- Identify your Primal Apes account.
- Link your Meta/Oculus account with your PlayFab player account.
- Save and restore your game data.
- Maintain your in-game coin balance.
- Store and provide cosmetics that you own or have unlocked.
- Verify in-app purchases and entitlements.
- Provide purchased or unlocked content.
- Provide multiplayer functionality through Photon.
- Maintain game security and prevent abuse.
- Diagnose technical problems.
- Improve Primal Apes and its features.
- Respond to support and privacy requests.
We do not sell users' personal information.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
Primal Apes uses third-party services to operate certain game features.
Microsoft PlayFab
We use Microsoft PlayFab for backend and player account functionality.
PlayFab is used to store and process information associated with your Primal Apes player account, including information such as your account identifier, in-game coins, cosmetics, game data, and other account-specific information.
PlayFab processes information on our behalf to provide these backend services.
Photon / Exit Games
We use Photon by Exit Games to provide multiplayer networking functionality.
Photon may process technical information necessary to operate multiplayer services, including IP addresses and user identifiers supplied by the game.
Photon processes this information in connection with providing multiplayer networking services.
Cloudflare and Supabase
Cloudflare hosts our website, account services, privacy-consent records, progress, player directory and moderation metadata. Supabase provides private moderation-audio storage. Only the server has storage credentials; the public game and website do not receive a Supabase secret key. Staff access requires authentication, and playback links expire quickly.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information.
Information may be shared with or processed by service providers such as Microsoft PlayFab and Photon/Exit Games when necessary to operate Primal Apes.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable laws or legal processes, protect the rights and safety of Primal Apes or its users, or detect and prevent fraud, abuse, cheating, or security incidents.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information associated with Primal Apes against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
7. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Primal Apes, maintain player accounts, provide game features, comply with applicable legal requirements, resolve disputes, and protect the game and its users.
Information that is no longer required may be deleted or de-identified unless retention is required or permitted by law.
8. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your Primal Apes account.

Please provide your Meta username or other information reasonably necessary for us to locate the correct Primal Apes/PlayFab account.
We may request additional information when reasonably necessary to verify that the request relates to the correct account.
After receiving and verifying a valid deletion request, we will delete applicable personal information and game data under our control without undue delay.
Where applicable, we will also take appropriate steps regarding information processed on our behalf by service providers such as Microsoft PlayFab and Photon/Exit Games.
Some information may be retained when required or permitted by applicable law, including information necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect legal rights.
There is no fee for submitting a data deletion request.
Deleting your Primal Apes account data may permanently remove associated game progress, virtual currency balances, cosmetics, preferences, and other stored game information. Deleted game data may not be recoverable.
9. Children's Privacy
Primal Apes does not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.
Where age-related requirements apply to the Meta Horizon platform or Primal Apes, users must satisfy those requirements.

10. EEA and UK Users
Users in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws.
